CHILD DEDICATION
Committing to raise your child in the ways of Jesus.
A child dedication is a ceremony within our church that functions as a sort of promise: Parents stand in front of their church family and resolve to raise their child (typically a newborn) according to the ways of God to the best of their ability. The church then stands as witness to this promise, and resolves to play their part in ensuring that the child is welcomed into the community and the family is supported in this sacred responsibility. This is not merely a cultural ritual, and it isn't sacramental in any traditional sense. This is not a baptism, it's a public declaration of faithful parenting.
